Foreign investments in Romania reached EUR 302 million in January this year, a considerable drop on the volume of foreign investment activity in January last year, of over EUR 1.12 billion, according to data recently released by the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). The current account of the balance of payment registered a EUR 123 million deficit, which was a 73 percent drop compared to January last year. The company’s external debt on the medium and long term stood at EUR 64.2 billion, which is 82 percent of the country’s total external debt. The short term debt was of EUR 13.6 billion, a drop of 5.5 percent on December 2009.
