Chainsaw Europe, the Romanian-based post production company, has launched a web-based, virtual company offering original music composition and library music for films, commercials, games, television and mobile on April 14, after a total investment of USD 10,000.

“Thanks to the web, we can now draw from a highly talented base of musical talent in the region,” said John Florescu, the founder of Chainsaw Europe, adding “And that talent can now service jobs across the world.” He also added that the investment in the online project reached USD 10,000, a rather low sum due to the fact that the company is mostly viral, as he explained.

Promoters of Chainsaw Audio say they are aiming for a wide use of the musical tracks: promos, stings for commercials, short films, musical bridges, personalized ring tones, video games, full-length feature films and industrial. Because the music is originally composed, usage clearance worldwide is greatly facilitated.

The newly launched site contains around 700 tracks of originally composed music in genres as varied as pop, latino, chill out, rock, techno and cinematic.  Users can also order up – and have the option to pay via PayPal – custom-made music drawing on a string of composers operating in Romania and beyond.

The regional composers signed on by Chainsaw Audio have already written original musical tracks for such clients as Toyota, Fiat, Skoda, P&G, Nokia, United Way, Raiffeisen Bank, Enel, Tnuva as well as for TV documentaries and films.

Among the composers are winners of the prestigious local Gopo Awards, an honor conferred to Best Sound for films reaching an international audience. The company plans to immediately expand the number of composers represented through the site, currently reaching around half a dozen.

Chainsaw Audio is an offshoot of Chainsaw Europe, launched in Romania in 2005, supplying post production facilities in the Central and East European region serving advertising agencies, commercial houses, production companies and direct clients. Chainsaw Audio registered annual sales in the USD 2 million range, added Florescu.

Chainsaw’s sister company is Chainsaw USA, the post company servicing American shows such as American idol, The Oscars and The Annual MTV Awards.
