The Ministry of Finance has announced the opening of a new registration for state aid under the Government Decision 807/2014, which applies for new investments of at least EUR 10 million that are made by private companies in Romania.

The budget for this session is 50 percent higher compared to the previous one, and stands at RON 638 million.

This state aid scheme is designed to support large scale investments that are made in sectors with high technology.

The state offers grants for eligible expenses of companies, be it tangible or intangible assets, as well as for the lease of buildings used for the initial investment.

At the end of 2015, there 9 ongoing investments that got state aid. The combined amount of investments stood at EUR 235 million, while the eligible expenses that could be covered by the state stood at EUR 97.7 million.  More than 3,300 jobs were created by companies that made fresh investment backed by the state.

German car parts maker Bosch and French car producer Automobile Dacia are among the beneficiaries of this support program.

Romania also has a separate state aid scheme, with a smaller budget, which can be used by companies to cover the wage costs when they create new jobs.
