Foreign direct investment in Romania dropped to EUR 486 million in the first quarter of the year, down 22 percent from EUR 486 million in the similar period of 2010, according to data from the Central Bank.
Investments in Q1 covered 60 percent of the current account deficit, which stood at EUR 634 million.
Out of the total Q1 investments, loans between companies totaled EUR 290 million, while capital participations stood at EUR 89 million.
Last year, foreign direct investments totaled EUR 2.5 billion, down 25.57 percent compared to 2009 when they stood at EUR 3.4 billion.
