Local cosmetics producer Farmec Cluj-Napoca has reported a RON 54.6 million (approximately EUR 13 million) turnover for the first semester of 2011, 16.9 percent more against the same period of last year.
“Although the FMCG market has decreased by 9.7 percent in the first six months of the year and sales of non-food products have gone down 3.7 percent according to data from the National Statistics Institute, the cosmetics market shows a positive trend. In this context we have managed to grow sales in the first semester by almost 17 percent,” said Mircea Turdean, the company’s general manager. He added that since the beginning of the year Farmec Cluj-Napoca has focused on launching new products and communication.
Between January and April, Farmec’s Gerovital brand has reported a 13.5 percent volume market share for face-care products and a 26.5 percent market share (value) on the hair treatment segment, according to data coming from Nielsen.
