Local cosmetics manufacturer Farmec Cluj-Napoca has reported a 10 percent turnover increase for 2010, to RON 95.9 million (approximately EUR 22 million).

“We closed a difficult with results that surpassed our expectations considering that our initial growth objective was 5 percent,” said Mircea Turdean, general director of Farmec Cluj-Napoca. The turnover hike was generated by new product launches, marketing investments and a “more visible presence on the main distribution channels” explained Turdean.

For this year, the local manufacturer announces plans to further increase its turnover by 5 percent and to enter international retail chains. “We also plan to enter modern retail chains outside of Romania after taking the first steps last year, by entering the Hungarian market,” said the general director.

According to data from Nielsen Romania, Farmec is market leader on the face-care segment (26.2 percent in volume), the face cleansing segment (17.32 percent), the hand cream segment (volume) and also on the hair care segment (18.3 in value). Last year the company launched the Gerovital Plant Tratament hair-care product line, consisting of seven products. Farmec is also market leader on the descalers and kitchen segments with the Nufarul and Triumf brands.
