Eximtur’ s sales volume up by 15 pct to over EUR 55 mln in 2017

Eximtur’ s sales volume increased year-on-year by 15 percent to over EUR 55 million in 2017. The beneficiaries of the business travel and events organization, leisure and incoming services, amounted to over 250,000 clients. The flight tickets sold increased to EUR 22 million.

The increase in 2017 was due mainly to the business division of Eximtur, which expended significantly its corporate clients portfolio by closing other 90 contracts. Eximtur business, through the services for business travelers and events organization, generated over 60 percent of the overall company’s sales. Germany and UK were in top of external destinations of business travel.

“Eximtur business continued the constant growth, but also the investments in travel technology and the consultants team was in increase. We are in a continuous process of team growth and training, diversifying permanently the range of services offered to corporate clients. It was a very productive year for us,” said Lucia Nora Morariu, president founder of Eximtur.

Over 95,000 tourists, a growth year-on-year by over 20 percent, chose local destinations in 2017; the sales of holiday packages in balneary resorts, mountain resorts and Danube Delta were the most dynamic, of over 50 percent, with a sales volume of over EUR 6 million.

Eximtur registered for this category of destinations sales of over EUR 10 million, an year-on-year growth by 11 percent.

The highest demands were for Venus, Eforie Nord and Jupiter resorts, due to the updated hotels and transformed in all inclusive units. For a  holiday in Romania, a tourist paid in average last year EUR 157, according to Eximtur.

In 2017, the specialists in external tourism of Eximtur had also packages for destinations such a Tunis, Bora Bora and Zimbabwe. Greece and Turkey still remained the main searched external destinations, Turkey had a significant comeback in 2017.

Out of the European cities, London was the main capital visited by leisure tourists, the interest for this destination increased significantly after Brexit announcement.

Overall 40,000 Eximtur tourists chose to spend the holiday abroad, the average value of the package/tourist was EUR 368.

Another important factor contributed to the increase of sales volume of Eximtur was the acquisition of tourism services with holiday vouchers; 10 percent of the overall sales of internal destinations (around EUR 1.6 million) was acquired through this instrument.

Eximtur was set up in 1993 and owns 24 agencies and franchises, in 18 cities in Romania.
