The minister of finance, Eugen Teodorovici, says that fresh amendments proposed to the Fiscal Code could allow microenterprises to opt for the payment of the profit tax or the turnover tax under certain conditions.

The minister said the changes might be approved next week by the government through an emergency ordinance.

“The threshold below EUR 1 million under which firms can opt for the payment of the profit or turnover tax, with two cumulative conditions – to have a share capital of RON 45,000 and to employ at least two people,” said Teodorovici.

Teodorovici added that this draft bill is being debated by the Budget Finance Committee in the Parliament.
