Jeffrey Franks’ term as chief negotiator of the International Monetary Fund for Romania is drawing to a close.
Franks has been since 2009 appointed in this position. During his term, Romania signed an agreement for a loan of nearly EUR 20 billion.
A Dutch expert of the IMF will be appointed in this position, to be introduced to the Romanian authorities during the last visit Franks will make to Bucharest, starting on April 24. Thus, Erik Jan de Vrijer, IMF’s Europe department assistant director Erik Jan de Vrijer, will be the one to fill this position.
