Marian Popa: Romania has potential to transform IT into a dominant economy within 20 years

“Taking into account the positive signals that are coming from IT companies with presence in Romania, regarding financial results and the growth in the number of employees, we can say that the entire IT sector posted in 2011 one of the best evolutions in the entire economy. This field will continue to grow this year because it is complementary to the austerity programs developed by companies, being the best and most faithful partner in making activities more efficient when resources are limited,” said Marian Popa, Managing Director Endava for Central and Eastern Europe.

He also stated that Romania has potential to develop the IT field into a dominant economy over the next 20 years.

Among the main problems that IT companies have to face are the accelerated increase of costs, the gap between the needs of the industry and the graduates in this field, as well as the lack of one association made only of IT companies.
