The electric and hybrid cars sales in Romania went up almost two times in (181 percent) in the first four months of 2017, compared with the same period of 2016, up to 548 units, according to the Association of Cars Producers and Importers (APIA).
According to the data, during January-April, compared with the first four months of 2016, the share of green cars ( electric and hybrid) in the total deliveries was 1.7 percent. In this margin, the electric cars sales increased by 142.1 percent and the hybrid cars sales climbed by 185.2 percent.
In April there were 141 green cars that were sold, a drop by 22.9 percent compared with March, when there were 183 cars.
In the top of the most sold electric cars, in the first four months of the year, on the first place was BMW, with 14 units, followed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo and Porsche.
Also, the best hybrid cars sold in Romania in the first four months of the year were registered by Toyota (451 units), followed by Lexus (45), Kia (3), Land Rover, Mercedes Benz and Ford (a unit each).
The statistics shows that in 2016 the number of new electric and hybrid cars sold in Romania was 1,183 units, a growth by 138 percent compared with 2015. Out of these, 167 are electric cars.
