German car parts maker Draxlmaier will fire 800 employees from its plant in Pitesti after losing a major client in the automotive sector that decided to move its production from Europe to Mexico, according to a release of the German company, cited by ePitesti.ro.

The German company will keep its Engineering and IT development Center in Pitesti and will continue to invest in the dual investment support, according to the release.

„The situation is due to several factors: on one hand, the natural reduction of orders in the case of the products whose life cycle is closing to an end, on the other hand due to the fact that one of the main clients decided to move its production in Mexico,” said Bernd Schmitt, general director of Lisa Draxlmaier Autopart, according to the release.

The company announced the increase in investments in the production units from Hunedoara and Brasov. The firm said it it would help the unemployed to find new jobs.
