The Israeli group Strauss Coffee, the producer of Doncafe and Amigo coffee, saw its sales in Romania go up by 5.7 percent in the first semester compared with the same period of 2015, to RON 133.7 million (EUR 29.7 million).

A positive impact for Strauss’ results mentioned by the company is the VAT reduction for food from 24 percent to 9 percent from June 2015.

The sales were bigger by 8.8 percent in the second quarter, amounting to RON 69 million (EUR 15.3 million).

The Strauss Coffee group is present in Romania since 1994 and owns a production unit in Bucharest.

In September 2014, Strauss Coffee finalized the transaction through which it acquired the coffee brand Amigo, sold mainly in Romania, from Cia Iguacu De Café Soluvel for USD 20 million.
