Romanians are undeterred by the fires in Rhodes Island, with The National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT) confirming that travel agencies are ensuring the continuity of vacations for affected tourists. So far, approximately 15% of the island, specifically the southern part, has been impacted by the fires.

Despite the challenges, efforts are being made to relocate tourists to the safer northern areas of the island. ANAT reports that some hotels in the affected region have temporarily closed, but charter flights to Rhodes are operating normally, assuring travelers that their scheduled vacations will proceed as planned.

ANAT emphasizes the commitment of Romanian tour operators and their local partners in Rhodes to take all necessary measures to ensure smooth and safe vacations. The association assures the public that no travel cancellations have occurred, and every effort is being made to provide tourists with a pleasant and secure experience during their stay on the island.

While the fires continue to pose a threat, travel agencies are closely monitoring the situation and providing assistance in travel and accommodation arrangements for tourists. The focus remains on ensuring their well-being and comfort during their time on Rhodes.

“We want to convey a message of confidence that Romanian tour operators, in collaboration with their local partners in Rhodes, will take all necessary measures to ensure that vacations proceed smoothly and safely. So far, there have been no travel cancellations, and efforts are being made to ensure that all tourists have a pleasant and safe experience during their stay in Rhodes”, states the official press release.

Currently, the fires are still up, giving that travel agencies will continue to closely monitor the situation, provide assistance in travel and accommodation for tourists, and ensure that they have a pleasant experience during their stay on the island of Rhodes.

ANAT encourages Romanian tourists to stay informed through travel agencies and to follow their advice and instructions regarding travel to this destination.

However, BBC notes that fires on Rhodes have already forced 19,000 of people to leave their homes – in what the government calls its largest ever such evacuation. No injuries have been reported.

Up at this point, Corfu and Evia have become the latest Greek islands to issue an evacuation order, as the country grapples with devastating wildfires. Charter flights to these destinations are still ongoing and the Greek authorities assures everything is under control.
