Deposits drop by 1.3 percent in July against the previous month, says BNR

Deposits made by non-government residents decreased by 1.3 percent in July against the previous month, totaling RON 167,908.7 million, according to the National Bank of Romania (BNR). Compared to July 2009 the amount has increased by 5.8 percent.

According to the same source at end of July 2010, non-government loans granted by credit institutions went down by 1.9 percent (down 4.4 percent in real terms) against June 2010, reaching RON 206,699.0 million. RON-denominated loans moved up 0.2 percent (down 2.3 percent in real terms), while foreign currency-denominated loans decreased by 3.2 percent (RON) and 0.4 (EUR).

“Government credit stood 4.3 percent higher in July at RON 54,973.6 million. At end-July 2010, government credit increased 22.2 percent (14.1 percent in real terms) from the same year-ago period”, reads the BNR press release.
