Cost of PM Grindeanu’s measures will cost RON 2.65 billion, Dragnea says

According to (Social Democratic Party) PSD head Liviu Dragnea, the cost of PM Grindeanu’s measures is estimated at EUR 2.65 billion.

In a Facebook message posted by Dragnea on Wednesday, Dragnea said the Government was already fulfilling the promises it made during the electoral campaign. “This is the answer to all latest attacks: the measures adopted by our government, of all Romanians! Each measure, its beneficiaries, the budget impact, as well as the date it enters into force. And all promises we made during the campaign, which, look, we already fulfilled,” Liviu Dragnea wrote.

According to the PSD leader, on 1 February 2007, the minimum income will increase to RON 1,450 and public sector workers will see their salaries go up by 20 percent. Moreover, salaries of actors and artists will increase by 50 percent, and healthcare subscriptions will be deduced from income tax (up to EUR 400 per year), and pensions below RON 2,000 will be exempt from income tax. On 1 March the minimum pension will go up to RON 520 and on 1 July 2017 the pension point will increase to RON 1,000.

Starting 1 February, students will be able to travel for free on trains operated by the Romanian Railways (CFR). Also. Students’ scholarships per student will increase from RON 83 per month to RON 201 per month.

Moreover, between 1 March – 1 July, microenterprises with revenues smaller than EUR 500,000 will pay 1 percent tax income, if they have one or more employees. On Friday, 6 January 2017, the threshold up to which a company is considered a microenterprise was raised from EUR 100,000 prior to EUR 500,000. Also starting 1 March, the transfer of properties with a value below RON 450,000 will be exempt from taxes, while the price difference for properties sold above that value will be taxed with 3 percent.

Liviu Dragnea also announced that starting 1 February 2017, companies focusing exclusively on innovation and R&D will be exempted from the payment of the profit tax. Moreover, the monthly income of those caring for people with disabilities will increase to RON 1.450, and the monthly allowance for parental leave from RON 1.062 to RON 1.232.
