Telecom operator Cosmote Romania, part of Greek group OTE, announced stable revenues of EUR 468.2 million, according to financial indicators for the financial year 2011.

On the other hand, the company’s EBITDA rose to EUR 100.1 million, an increase of 35.8 percent on the financial year 2010.

Cosmote’s total customer base (including Zapp) stood at approximately 6.5 million at the end of 2011, following a decline of 5.1 percent, with the postpaid ratio increasing to 23.1 percent, as a result of the business segment growth.

Cosmote maintained a sustained growth in its business customer base. Thus, in 2011, the business segment grew by more than 27 percent versus 2010, attracting major customers like BCR or Transgaz.

At the end of 2011, the company’s market share stood at approximately 24 percent.

“We are pleased to have managed, yet again in 2011, to consolidate our position in the market, despite fierce competition and adverse economic conditions. Our high level EBITDA performance, as well as our 3G and business customer base boost within the year, clearly indicate customers’ trust”, said Stefanos Theocharopoulos (in picture), chief executive officer Cosmote Romania (also general manager of sister company Romtelecom)

Following the successful integration of Zapp, 3G services are available to over 66 percent of the population. As a result, the company significantly increased its 3G customer base, by 116 percent compared to financial year 2010.

Blended ARPU (average revenue per user), increased by 10 percent in 2011, versus 2010.

Cosmote’s national sales distribution channel comprised approximately 600 points of sale across the country at the end of 2011.
