Romania’s energy regulator and several private companies have called on the Department for Energy to postpone by at least one more year the deregulation of the natural gas market for co-generation power plants and industrial consumers.

“The energy department is currently analyzing these requests and at the same time has solicited further information from ANRE (…) that demonstrates the necessity of postponing deregulation”, the Department for Energy announced in a astatement.

The cited source argues that prices paid by industrial consumers will remain unchanged at January 1, 2015, in reference to current levels.

In September, Razvan Nicolescu, delegate minister for Energy, announced that the Government will suspend gas market deregulation indefinitely for domestic consumers and it will extend the process by two years for companies.
