Coltea clinical hospital has inaugurated its latest center of oncological radio-therapy. The EUR 63 million investment was made entirely by the Ministry of Public Health. The general contractor for the project was Siemens. Currently, the Coltea hospital has 315 beds and approximately 400 employees.

As well as being a functional hospital, Coltea is also a historic monument, having been founded in 1704 by Mihai Cantacuzino. At the time when it was established, Coltea had only 24 beds.

The hospital is in the direct administration of the Bucharest City Hall and the inauguration was attended by Bucharest mayor, Sorin Oprescu, who said: “The hospitals in Bucharest are starting to look different. The perception of the Romanian hospital, that it is a place that one should avoid, is starting to change.”
