The National Meteorological Administration has issued a yellow code meteorological warning for eastern Transylvania, the northern half of Moldavia, as well as the area of the Eastern Carpathians, where there will be torrential rainfalls and thunderstorms between August 17 and 18.
“Water amounts will exceed 30 – 40 mm over narrow areas and there will be hail occurrence circumstances. In the remainder of Moldavia, in Walachia and Dobrudja such phenomena will be recorded sparsely”, shows the information notice. The 14 counties that will be affected by severe rain conditions are Botosani, Iasi, Bacau, Neamt, Suceava, Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita, Mures, Maramures and Bistrita Nasaud.
For the rest of the country, especially in the south-east, the weather will maintain torrid, with maximum temperatures reaching around 36º C and the THI temperature-humidity thermal comfort index exceeding the critical 80-unit threshold.
