Christmas decorations online shop expects 60 percent increase in 2010 turnover

Romanians seem to take to online shopping when it comes to Christmas decorations and trees, since online and offline flower store Floridelux expects a EUR 125,000 turnover for brazidecraciun.ro portal. In 2009, Christmas decorations online shop brazidecraciun.ro registered a business worth EUR 80,000.

This 60 percent increase in turnover compared to last year is expected due to “an investment of EUR 10,000 in relaunching the website, as well as in a new communication strategy”, explains Marius Dosinescu, Business Development Manager at floridelux.ro. Dosinescu estimates that this year orders will triple, from 600 in 2009, to 1,800 in 2010.

However, as Dosinescu continues, this year’s economical context might determine online shoppers to be more cautious regarding their expenses. Thus, if the average order operated at brazidecraciun.ro was worth EUR 133, this year, there will be a 50 percent decrease, reaching EUR 70.

Dosinescu added that 75 percent of the website’s clients are medium or large companies, while 15 percent are individuals from the urban environment, with medium or high income, but who lack time. Bucharest has so far been the most important location of the site’s client base, yet Dosinescu expects for the situation to change this year, since over 1,500 locations are now covered in the distribution list.

The Floridelux group is owned by Marius Ghenea, a well-known local entrepreneur and business angel.
