The Chinese space lab Tiangong-1 has disintegrated at the re-entry into Earth atmosphere this Monday, over the central part of South Pacific, after an uncontrolled flight on the orbit, which lasted approximately for two years, according to AFP.

After several days of uncertainty, the former space lab has reentered the terrestrial space close to 12:15 AM GMT, according to CMSEO, the Chinese office for spatial flights coordination with human crew at the board.

“Most of the equipments have been destroyed during the re-entry in the space,” said CMSEO in a release.

The spatial module, which hadn’t respond to the orders since 2016, re-entered the space quite earlier than the forecasts of specialists. CMSEO announced that the re-entry of Chinese station on Terra would produce around 12:42 AM GMT, which would have placed it above the Southern Atlantic, within the Brazilian city Sao Paulo.

The space station will weight 8 tonnes, but its crash doesn’t have any risk to produce damages, said the Chinese authorities, which promised Terrestrials that will see a “splendid” show, similar to a “stars rain”.

“People have no reason to worry,” said CMSEO. This type of spatial station “doesn’t crash Terra in a violent manner like in the SF movies,” said a representative of the Chinese institution.

Tiangon-1 was used to make some medical experiments. It is also considered an intermediary stage for the construction of a Chinese spatial station.

The special lab was placed on the orbit in September 2011.

China aims to launch on the orbit a spatial station until 2022 that will have a team of astronauts at the board, when the International Spatial station will not function.
