China’s trade surplus with US widens in April

China’s trade surplus with the United States widened in April to USD 22.19 billion, from USD 15.43 billion in March, according to Reuters.

In the January-April period, China’s trade surplus was USD 80.4 billion with the US.

China and the US have threatened each other with billions’ worth of tariffs, leading experts to worry that they may engage in a trade war that could have negative consequences for  the entire world. Donald Trump has also expressed his resentment at China’s trade surplus.
