Cars registration down in February by close to 37 pct, to 49,000 units

Cars registrations in Romania down year-on-year in February by 36.89 percent up to 48,617 units, according to the data published last Friday by the Direction of Driving Licenses and Cars Registration (DRPCIV).

The data published include the cumulated registrations on new cars and second-hand cars and the details related to the share of new cars in the overall registrations.

Thus, the new cars registrations in Romania increased in February bu 5.72 percent compared with February 2017, to 8,777 units, representing 18.1 percent of the overall.

Also, in February 2018 were registered 39,840 second hand cars, a drop by 42.03 percent compared with February 2017.

On the new cars market, the leader in February was Dacia, with 2,197 units (+5,37 percent compared with February 2017), followed by Volkswagen with 918 (31.14 percent) and Skoda with 760 units (+7,95 percent).

On the used car markets, the leader remained Volkswagen with 10,237 units (-47,15 percent compared with February 2017), followed by Opel with 4,542 units (-47,2 percent) and BMW with 3,638 units (-37,08 percent).

In 2017 were registered 627,753 cars in Romania, a growth by 60 percent compared with 2016.
