Canpack Romania invests EUR 50 mln in a new production line in Bucharest plant

Canpack Romania, part of the Polish group Canpack, who recycles 50 pct of the beverage aluminum cans, announced the opening of a new line of aluminum can production at its Bucharest plant, with an investment of over EUR 50 million.

We strongly believe in the potential of the Romanian market, which is reflected in the growing demand for modern and environmentally friendly aluminum packaging,” said Herman Nicolaas Nusmeier, CEO and chairman of the Board of Directors of Canpack.

The new investment will allow the total production capacity of the existing unit to be increased from 950 million to 1.55 billion cans annually with the possibility of producing 4 types of packaging: 50 cl, 33 cl, 33 fit and 25 cl slim. Due to the opening of the new production line, approximately 88 additional jobs will be created, which is reflected in an increase in the number of qualified professionals, from 163 to over 250.

The Canpack Group processes and recycles over 4,000 tonnes of used cans in Romania, which means the recycling of about 50 percent of the total aluminum cans for beverages used in Romania, or about 23 percent of the total aluminum packaging used in Romania.
