Cismigiu Hotel in Bucharest, one of the major symbols of the city’s architecture, celebrated on Thursday 105 years since its completion and 5 years of business since being taken over by Spanish Real estate company Hercesa.
Located in the central area of the Romanian capital, on Regina Elisabeta, at no 38, the hotel has a unique and spectacular design as well as ultramodern facilities. In the past five years, the Hercesa has invested over EUR 15 million in the running of the hotel.
The occupancy rate of the hotel increased gradually since the opening of the hotel in December 2012 up to 85-88 percent in the peak months of 2016 and 2017. According to company representatives, most clients are foreigners and have a high return rate, of over 85 percent.
“The outstanding company of the services offered to our clients with the help of a team that is continuously trained, he comfort and tranquility in the ultra central location, underground parking, the attention to detail […] make Hotel Cismigiu a landmark of the Romanian hotel market and contributes to turning Bucharest into a European tourist destination,” Alejandro Solano Gallego, Hercesa Cismigiu Group shareholder said on Thursday.
The four star hotel offers 60 apartments with two rooms sized between 40 and 55 square meters. This type of accommodation is very sought after by business people who appreciate both the bedroom as well as the workspace, with a lot of light due to the windows the balconies with opening towards the city’s old centre, company representatives said.
The building, built in 1912 according to plans by Paris-educated engineer Nicolae Pissiota, and his cousin, architect Arghir Culina. Known was Palace Hotel, the building features neoclassical and art nouveau elements. When it opened, Palace Hotel, which offered 200 rooms, was the most modern hotel in the city.
Hercesa, which entered the Romanian market in 2004, is active in the real estate and industrial sectors.
