Bucharest mayor: RATB will buy 200 used buses

The Bucharest mayor, Gabriela Firea, wants to buy 300 buses, 100 electric buses and trams.

„We decided today in an emergency regime that the public transportation agency (RATB) will organize an auction to buy 200 used buses not less than EUR 4, emission standard, ”said Firea.

At the moment, only 60 percent of the public transportation vehicles are functional in Bucharest. The rest cannot be not used anymore or need great rehabilitations.

„The first 200 will be bought this autumn, the rest of 300 will function from the next year,” said the mayor.

Firea added that the project regarding the free rides will be applied starting the next year. The free rides will be before and after the peak hours.
