Bucharest ranks on the 35th place in a Cushman& Wakefield survey called European Cities Monitor regarding the best European cities for business. Bucharest is currently the second last, coming right before Athens.

London is still the leading city in which to do business, with a similar score to 2009. Paris remains in second place and Frankfurt in third, with the gap between second and third place closing slightly. Brussels regains fourth place from Barcelona, while Amsterdam moves back up the ranking to sixth place. This year the most impressive rise in the rankings is seen by Vienna, increasing six places to 22nd.

Bucharest also declined in the chart of cities with the best cost of staff. While last year Bucharest was on the first place with the cost of staff, this year it has lost this position. It is preceded by Istanbul which is now on the forth place while last year it was on the second place. Warsaw regained the first place in this category.

Easy access to markets, customers or clients remains the most essential factor when deciding to locate a business, with the Availability of qualified staff the second most important factor.

The quality of telecommunications and transport links with other cities remain in third and fourth place respectively. Overall, these four factors remain the most important, with over half of the sample continuing to class these factors as absolutely essential when deciding to locate a business, the survey shows.
