The Romanian General Inspectorate and BSA (The Software Alliance) announced the renewal of the protocol for preventing and eradicating software piracy in Romania.

This year, the purpose of the partnership is to inform administrators and IT managers of 50,000 SMEs with more than 10 working computers about the risks they take when they use unlicensed software.

Over the past 8 months of this year, the Romanian Police made 587 checks and approximately half of these resulted in criminal files. Over 2,000 PCs were seized and the value of the damages amounted to EUR 400,000.

Software piracy in 2011 amounted to 63 percent.
