BNR increases key interest rate to 2 pct per year

The administrative board of the Romanian National Bank (BNR) decided to increase the key interest rate to the level of 2 percent per year, from the previous value of 1.75 percent per year, starting with January 9, 2018.

The institution also decided to increase the interest rate for deposit facilitation to 1 percent per year, from 0.75 percent per year, and the interest rate associated with crediting facilitation to 3 percent per year, from 2.75 percent per year previously.

Another decision is related to the maintenance of the current levels of the mandatory minimum reserve rates applied to RON and foreign currency liabilities and credit institutions.
