BNR: Foreign currency reserves dropped in June with almost EUR 1 bln

The foreign currency reserves of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) were EUR 31.729 billion at the end of June, a drop from EUR 32.672 billion at the end of May, due to the buyback of Euro bonds emission with maturity of June 17, valued at EUR 1.58 billion, according to a BNR release from Friday.

In June there were EUR 979 million inputs, representing the European Commission account entrance (EUR 861 million), the change of the minimum foreign reserves made by the credit institutions, the Public Finance ministry account entrance and others.

On the other hand, the reserves outputs were 1.922 EUR billion last month, representing the change in minimum reserves made by the credit institutions, installments payment and interests in the public debt account denominated in foreign currency.

The gold reserve was maintained at 103.7 tones and its value was EUR 3.944 billion.

The international reserves of Romania (foreign currency plus gold) on June 30 was EUR 35.673 billion, a drop from EUR 36.296 billion on May 31.

The maturing payments in June in the public debt account in foreign currency, direct or by the Public Finance ministry amount EUR 120 billion, says the release.
