Blue Air posted a 55 percent increase in its number of its passengers, to over 1.7 million in 2009, with a turnover of EUR 140 million. The airline estimates a rise of 40 percent in turnover in 2010 and will boost its number of employees by at least 30 percent.

“2009 was a difficult year for the whole airline industry. Adaptation to the market conditions was a sine qua non condition while last year we focused on partnerships that assured us the growth of our market share,” said Adrian Ionascu, general manager of Blue Air. According to him, in 2010 the airline will focus on the consolidation of external connections. “It is also possible for us to open a fourth operations base in Europe,” added Ionascu.
