BCR introduces new cash deposit function at over 600 self-service terminals

The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) has introduced a new cash deposit function, allowing clients to deposit cash into their accounts at over 600 self-service terminals. The newly-launched service is available both to private clients and legal entities at half the commission charged by the bank at the counter.

BCR clients can make use of the cash deposit function at the bank’s multifunctional machines (MFM) and automatic counters (APT). Namely, private clients have the option to make deposits in RON, EUR and USD at the bank’s MFMs, while the APTs only support the operation in the national currency. Legal entities, such as microenterprises and sole traders (PFA) can only make deposits in RON using both types of self-service facilities.

BCR charges for the new function a fee of 2 lei for deposits in RON and 1 EUR/USD respectively for deposits in the two foreign currencies, half that charged at the bank’s counters. The maximum trading limit is EUR 10,000/day or the RON equivalent.

“We are continuously looking to digitize the alternative banking channels and searching for effective and easy-to-use solutions for our customers”, Executive Director at BCR’s Digital Banking Division Marian Ignat said. “The costs incurred by the customers are kept to a minimum, given that in October 2015 we eliminated commissions for cash withdrawal at self-service terminals, and costs for other transactions are up to 50 percent lower than at the counter”, Ignat added.

BCR, a member of Erste Group, is the largest financial group in Romania, in terms of universal banking operations (retail, corporate& investment banking, treasury and capital markets) and through specialized companies on the leasing, private pensions and housing markets.

The introduction of the new cash deposit function makes it now possible for the bank to cover at its self-service terminals over 90 percent of transactions available to clients at a regular bank counter.
