Balkan Cash Solutions has opened a new center for cash processing and depositing in Bucharest, following a EUR 1.5 million investment.

The center has 3 levels, spanning on 1100 square meters, and currently employs 50 people, although their number is expected to reach 130 once the center is fully operational.

Ioan Barbu, general manager Balkan Cash Solutions, told Business Review that the company will look two expand its operations in other regions of Romania: “We will open 6 to 8 centers across Romania, and this should allows us to achieve an EUR 8 million turnover.” Asked about the clients, Barbu stated that “we are already in talks with 4 banks”.

The new center has the operational capacity of processing 1 million bills during an 8 hour shift, but this could expand to 2 million bills by making the second floor of the center operational. Right now, the second level houses the administrative department. This new center has the capacity to process 0.2 millions coins in a shift and up to 9 million bills can be stored in the treasury. The building has storage capacity for a maximum of 600 ATMs and can handle between 15 and 20 vehicles every hour, for cash transfer operations.

The operational center also has a state of the art security system, including 130 CCTV cameras and over 100 anti-burglary sensors, together with biometric readers in special areas.

The cash processing equipment is fully automated and connected to an integrated IT system. In addition, the bill sorters and counting machines have also the function to verify the authenticity of the bills during cash processing.
