The total value of back payments to banks of firms and individuals went down by over 18 percent in July to approximately RON 12.3 billion, compared with the level registered in the same month of 2016, according to the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Out of this amount, RON 5.74 billion were in national currency and RON 6.59 billion in foreign currency. Debtors in Bucharest owned 37 percent of the overall back payments.
The overall value of the loans for firms and individuals amounted to RON 230.8 billion in RON, a growth by 5.3 percent compared with the level from July 2016. The highest value was in RON, over RON 138.5 billion.
The number of individuals with back payments longer than 30 days at banks and non-banking financial institutions increased by 1.1 percent in June compared with May to 687,302, according to the the most recent data of the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
These individuals had back payments of over RON 8.05 billion. The highest part of the amount was in RON and EUR, respectively RON 3.12 billion and RON 3.28 billion in EUR.
