Marta Krupinska, co-founder and general manager at Azimo, the digital money transfer service which is also available in Romania, says in an opinion piece that the referendum regarding the potential exit of Great Britain from the European Union has been revolving around migration.
In a piece posted on HuffingtonPost, she says that people should find out more about the positive impact of migrants on the UK economy.
“As I quoted in my blog from March, 60% of European migrants have degrees. One in seven UK firms are created by migrants, employing at least 1.16 million people. And European migrants contribute £2 billion a year in taxes. How are these not the stories that we tell people all day, every day?”, said Krupinska in her opinion piece.
In a separate opinion published in April, Michael Kent, the founder and CEO of Azimo, said that voting to leave the EU “would be a huge act of economic and political harakiri”.
He explained that in the London office of Azimo, over 75 percent of the workforce aren’t British-born.
Kent warned that the Brexit would kill the FinTech industry in London, as the talent pool and the advantage of the European single market would vanish.
