The average net income of Romanians, including both salaries and bonuses or vouchers for employees, went down in February by 2.8 percent to RON 2,236. The annual growth rhythm slowed down strongly to 14.5 percent from 18.4 percent in January, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
„The most significant growth of the net minimum salary ( in February compared with January) was registered in shows, cultural activities and entertainment by 12.9 percent, respectively by 7.7 percent in other services activities,” according to the a release of the INS.
„The highest values of the average net salary were registered in February in activities from Information technology (RON 5,631) an the lowest ones in hotels and restaurants (RON 1,351),” says the INS release.
The annual growth rhythm of the salaries registered in January was a record after November 2008, according to News.ro.
In December, the average net income reached RON 2,354 (EUR 521), a historical record level, after an increase of 11.4 percent compared with December 2015.
Also the gross average income reached a historical record level of RON 3,257. In February the gross average income dropped by 1.9 percent compared with January to RON 3,108 although the gross minimum wage rose by 16 percent to RON 1,450.
