Five hundred pieces of art grouped in three different collections – “Erotica”, “Magic and Esoteric Sciences” and “Rare books” – will be auctioned between November 13-15.
The “Erotica” collection includes a special, anniversary edition of Playboy magazine (in picture) from 1969. The estimated value of this magazine is between EUR 75-150. The “Magic and Esoteric Sciences” collection features an Egyptian statue dating from the Middle Reign Period (aprox. 2033-1710 b.Ch.) with an estimated value of EUR 1.500-2.500. Also, the first edition of Dimitrie Cantemir’s monumental writing “Descriptio Moldaviae” from 1771 will also be included. This first edition appeared at Leipnitz and it consists of a map of Moldova and a gravure drawn by Vinkeles Reiner (1741-1816) with Dimitrie Cantemir. The manuscript written in Latin can be found at the Oriental Studies Institute in Sankt Petersburg. The book is on auction with a starting price of EUR 2.500.
All the exhibitions can be visited until November 11, at the Cesianu-Racovita Palace. The auctions will start at 19.30, as follows: November 13, at Athénée Palace Hilton, the Postmodernism and Contemporary Auction and “Erotica” collection; November 14, Cesianu-Racovita Palace, the “Magic and Esoteric Sciences” collection and Art Nouveau and Art Deco Auction; November 15, Athénée Palace Hilton, Graphic, Manuscripts and Rare Books Auction and “Traditional Values” Auction.
