The jewels and antique decorative art objects sales are relaunched in a “Martisor” themed series of auctions to be held by Artmark Auction House in late February. Miniature amulets manufactured in Romanian and European workshops in the late 19th and early 20th century and offered as “martisor” will be available for art enthusiasts.  At the same time, a first auction dedicated to Romanian movie stars will showcase personal items of top Romanian actors and a collection of posters of Romanian movies.

The auction Martisor I – Painting and Sculpture will take place on February 21, at Hotel Pullman. The auction gathers a selection of 172 small works by most famous Romanian artists, from all artistic periods. Among the most valuable of the are two Grigorescu paintings: Apple Flowers (painted in oil on wood, predicted to raise between EUR 30,000 and 50,000) and House at Campina (oil on canvas, estimated at EUR 15,000 to 25,000).

The same location will host the second Martisor auction – Vintage Martisoare, Jewelry and Decorative Arts on February 22. The auction will feature a selection of ornaments and decorations made by famous decorative art workshops throughout Europe. One of the most remarkable pieces is the Faberge Cigarette Case in silver and gold, bearing the princely monogram Trubetkoi-Calinescu. The item is valued at EUR 3,000 to 6,000. It was made in a famous workshop which served the Russian Imperial House.

The last in this series is the auction entitled Memorable Cinema, to take place on February 23 at Hotel Athenee Palace Hilton. This will feature personal items, photos and props from successful movies and plays belonging to top Romanian actors. The second part of the evening is dedicated to a Postmodernism and Contemporary Auction displaying 62 artworks by postwar and contemporary classic Romanian figures, such as Corneliu Baba, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Constantin Piliuta, Paul Neagu, Horia Bernea, Stefan Caltia, Sorin Ilfoveanu, Viorel Marginea, Dan Perjovschi, Teodor Graur.

In addition, starting with February 2012, Artmark and its official insurance broker, BCR Asigurari, will offer for free to all the auctioned art buyers an insurance to protect investment in art. Through this program, Artmark clients will benefit from six months protection from the risks of loss and destruction for the purchased works. The insurance covers the risks of transport and other specific ones.
