The newest theatre venue in Bucharest announces fresh dates and a special add-on for its most successful show yet. Based on the story of Robert Bloch made famous by Alfred Hitchcock, PSYCHO was adapted for the Apollo111 stage by young director Iris Spiridon, with Istvan Teglas on the role of scary Norman Bates. The performances in May will feature live English subtitles.

“PSYCHO” is a show about the fear of admitting what we’re willing to do for those we love. A thriller about a secret romance with an unexpected ending. A tribute to Alfred Hitchcock and a unique character, both in American literature and cinema.

When Mary Crane is looking for shelter, she finds it here. Norman Bates, the sensitive owner, who is maybe to close to his mother, is willing to listen and comfort her. The rooms in the motel are small and tidy and Virgin Mary watches over the guests. In one of these, Mary Crane meets miss Bates, Norman’s mother. Or maybe somebody else. She will never know.

Istvan Teglas and the other actors that bring Bates Motel to life – Vlad Birzanu, Ioana Mărcoiu, Andrei Radu and Ghighi Eftimie – all give strong performances in the stylish decor imagined by Sabina and Bianca Veșteman. PSYCHO also features live music.

Apollo111 is located in the fully refurbished Universul Palace, close to the Cismigiu Park, and it’s the first theatre in Bucharest that works in the off-Broadway system: its shows play only for 6 to 8 weeks and every season has a different artistic director, who selects a different theme. The first artistic director of Apollo111 is actor Bogdan Dumitrache and the first theme is theatre-film.

Besides a theatre hall, the venue includes a bar with a food menu and a large selection of wines. The bar is open from Tuesday to Sunday, starting 5 PM.

The next PSYCHO performances will take place on 4, 5 and 6 May, 8PM. Tickets are available online: www.Apollo111.ro
