The new general manager of Antena Group is Isabella Carmu, the channel manager at Antena 1. The new deputy general manager will be Cristian Ionescu, the channel manager of Antena Stars, according to decision of the media trust founded by Dan Voiculescu. The media mogul is currently serving a 10-year jail sentence.

The new management team was appointed shortly after the group’s CEO, Sorin Alexandrescu, got a jail sentence of 3 years and six months in a blackmail case against telecom giant RCS&RDS.

“I am convinced that the whole team knows very well that it has to do so as to offer the audience and the partners the best results. As for me, I am fully supportive of my colleagues and I will focus on appealing the court’s decision, as I want to prove my innocence,” said Alexandrescu in a statement.

Carmu has worked for Intact Group for close to 19 years. She started her career within the programs department of Antena 1. She has worked for years as acquisitions director.

Ionescu has 20 years’ worth of experience within Intact Group. In 2013, he has relaunched the Antena Starts TV station and also coordinated the tabloid website spynews.ro.

The new executive team will coordinate the operational activity of Antena 1, Antena Stars, Happy Channel ZU TV. They will also oversee the digital platforms of the company.

Antena Group said that 9.6 million Romanians have watched for at least one minute one of the TV stations in its portfolio in the first quarter of this year.

The digital portfolio of the group recorded in April over 50 million views and 9 million unique visitors.
