London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG)’s Bucharest operation centre has appointed Andreea Stanescu as its general manager. LSEG, the administrator of the Stock Exchange in London, announced in April it was setting up a technology and operations hub in the Romanian capital.

She will oversee the operations of its technology and operations hub, which will provide services to the group and to its clients across the world. She will be reporting to Dee Liyanwela, Head of Business Services Ltd (BSL) Sri Lanka and Romania.

“For the first 3-4 months we just got established here and the first new colleagues came in five or six weeks ago. We are just shy of 50 people right now and we will have around 100 by the end of the year and 200 by the end of 2019”, David Robinette, senior HR Business partner at the Group COO office in Bucharest, told Business Review.

According to Dee Liyanwela, head of Business Services Limited, Sri Lanka and Romania, the LSEG has chosen Romania out of a group of 14 countries. ” It is a good place for professionals, with people close to Western Europe, and it’s also a Latin-language country. We had a very good feeling when our managers started the process of hiring and they were really impressed with the people here,” said Liyanwela told BR.

“I’m delighted to welcome Andreea Stanescu to London Stock Exchange Group in her new role as General Manager, Romania. Andreea brings considerable operational management experience to the role, which will be of great benefit as we establish our new Business Services centre in Bucharest. Andreea will also work closely with the Group’s other operational hubs to deliver technology and data services across LSEG’s global business entities,” Dee Liyanwela, Head of BSL Sri Lanka and Romania, said.

“Romania offers a highly skilled workforce and we have been impressed by the calibre of candidates to date and we look forward to building our operations in Bucharest.”
