ANCOM: Romania’s postal services market up by 4.4 pct to RON 2.4 bln in 2015

The total value of the local postal services market was RON 2.4 billion in 2015, growing by 4.43 compared to 2014. The first 10 suppliers from postal services revenues perspective represented almost 86 percent of the market value, according to the Romanian National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communication (ANCOM).

The postal traffic continued the moderated growth tendency from the last years, overpassing 657 million mailings, with 5 percent more than the value from 2014, according to the statistical data report regarding the postal services for 2015.

Out of the total, 600 million were internal postal mailing, representing 91.44 percent of the total postal traffic and 56 million were international postal mailings, representing 8.56 percent of the total postal traffic.

The first ten suppliers of big volume from the entire market processed over 631 million mailings (96.05 percent) and the rest of the suppliers processed almost 26 million mailings.

Approximately 74 percent were letters (487 million), 19 percent postal parcels (127 million), 1.8 percent Express mailings (12 million) and the rest approximately 5 percent were postal advertising, postal mandates and correspondences of over 2 kg.

The evolution of e-commerce was one of the factors that determined traffic growths of postal parcels at national level (70 percent) and international level (395 percent). Overall, the international mailings grew by 85 percent, reaching 56 million.
