The National Tourism Agencies Association (ANAT) wants a consistent multiannual budget to promote Romania’s destination abroad, according to the association’s president, Alin Burcea.
„The association’s expectations from the new Ministry are high, based on the need of its existence: We want a consistent multiannual budget through a coherent promotion policy,” said Burcea in a release on Thursday.
ANAT expects the tourism industry to reach 6 percent of the GDP, the estimated level for Romania by the Global Tourism Organization.
„The National Tourism Agencies Association salutes the initiative of setting up the Tourism Ministry in the new Government, after for several years the sector was moved from one Ministry to another, without the appropriate importance for the national economy,” says the release.
Also, ANAT requests the involvement of the state in the incoming activity growth through several stimulus measures for the agencies that bring foreign tourists in the country, with direct effects on the national economy.
„We expect the application of the holidays vouchers law also in the public sector, a measure that would bring a growth in the internal tourism. We also want the reduction of the VAT to 9 percent for the tourism agencies, to eliminate the discrimination created by the diminishing of the quota in mountains area and the extension of the season on the seaside,” said Burcea.
