The status of Romanians from the UK will represent an important topic for citizens, said the ambassador of Romania to London, Dan Mihalache, at a hearing organized by the Committee of Internal Affairs from the Chamber of Commons.
The hearing took place in the context of the investigation made by the Chamber of Commons regarding the post-Brexit planned decisions, says the Romanian Embassy from London.
The Romanian ambassador added that the Romanian citizens that live and work in UK are worried about the British debate regarding the maintenance on medium and long term, of the current rights of European citizens, underlining that these need not only reassurance messages, but also certainties. He also opposed to the idea of the application of a discriminating treatment for the Romanian citizens, depending on the date that they arrived in UK.
Mihalache said that even if Romania regrets the vote of the British to leave the EU, the two countries will continue to cooperate at a political, military and economic level.
