A total of 9,618 Romanian companies closed down in the first semester of 2018, 26.6 percent more than last year, data released by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC) shows.
Last year, 7,597 companies closed down in the first semester. Most of the companies that closed down were registered in Bucharest -1,162, followed by Bihor country – 510, Cluj – 451 and Prahova – 368.
The regions where the number of companies that closed down decreased during the period surveyed include Dolj county, (- 15.10 percent) and Giurgiu (- 1.9 percent).
The highest increases in the number of companies that closed down was recorded in Vrancea (+71 percent, Mehedinti ( +60 percent) and Arges (+57.07 percent).
