ACI Worldwide, the American multinational provider of real-time payment and banking solutions, has opened its new office in United Business Center 2, Openvillle Timisoara, and is looking to recruit new people for the development of universal payment solutions.

The company has been present in Timisoara for more than a decade and its current headcount stands at 200.

“Hopefully we will be 250 people at the end of this year. (…) We have offices in 55 countries and this is one of our most important,” said Phil Heasley, president & CEO of ACI Worldwide.

Half of the current employees of ACI in Romania were recruited through internship programs.

“This team plays a significant role in developing and strengthening ACI’s Universal Payments offerings, which are used by some of Europe’s—and the world’s—largest merchants, intermediaries and financial institutions,” said Heasley.

The executive added that ACI chose to expand its operations in Timisoara due to the strong technical universities and the availability of skilled talent force in terms of engineering and IT.

ACI Worldwide has leased 3,500 sqm in UBC 2, close to Iulius Mall Timisoara. The whole Openville project currently developed by IULIUS Group in the city requires an estimated investment of EUR 220 million. UBC 2 has a gross leasable area of 18,000 sqm and hosts other tenants such as Atos, Ness Software Engineering Services and Autoliv.

“ACI being here is one of the best things that have happened in the city in terms of software (industry – e.n.) in the past 10 years,” said Dan Diaconu, vice mayor of Timisoara.

ACI Worldwide has over 4,100 employees in 31 countries and recorded revenues of USD 1 billion in 2016. The digital solutions developed by the company are used for payments and securities worth USD 14 trillion daily.

The company powers electronic payments for more than 5,100 organizations around the world.
