Romania has 38 companies in the top 500 greatest companies with the highest turnover in Central Europe, according to the Deloitte Top 500 Central Europe ranking.
This places Romania the fifth country in the region after Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine.
However, half of the companies that made it into the top 500 are on lower positions than last year, when Romania had 33 companies present.
Petrom, Rompetrol, Dacia, Pretrotel Lukoil, BAT Romania, Kaufland, Lukoil Romania, Hidroelectrica, Mol Romania, Mediplus Exim and Alro were the 11 local companies that managed to rank on better positions than last year.
Thus, Petrom went up the ladder on the 14th place (from the 25th a year ago). Rompetrol reached the 24th place (from the 70th a year ago), and Autmomobile Dacia reached the 42nd place.
There are 9 companies that have entered the Top 500 ranking for the first time. These are Nokia (93rd place), Electrica (134th place), Enel Romania (145th place), Renault Industrie Roumanie (343rd place), Grup Servicii Petroliere (365th place), Cosmote (426th place), JTI Mfg (475th place), Cargill Agricultura (481st place) and Continental Automotive (491st place).
The Romanian companies that lost the most in the race were Arcelor Mittal Galati which lost 79 positions until the current 173rd position, Coca Cola HBC Romania which went 77 positions down to 484, Romtelecom which went 74 positions down to 269 and Philip Morris Romania which went 74 places down to 411st place.
