Recognition for school directors with outstanding results

The event brought into attention again, as it does every year, the work and dedication of school directors in Romania, by awarding directors with exceptional performance, including the School Director of the Year. At the same time, an impact plan was presented for the Edu Networks program – an alliance founded by 9 NGOs in Education, and how companies can get involved to support the modernization of pre-university schools.

Niste Daniela was named Director of the Year 2020. In a challenging year, the attendance of the „Cornel Regman” gymnasium school in Daneș, Mureș increased for 320 children, of which 70% romani, and the school dropout at the gymnasium level decreased from 50% to 20%. She also initiated the construction of a new school, facilitating partnerships and securing private funding.

Together for Education

Asociația pentru Valori în Educație supports the transformation of education in Romania through programs such as Leadership and School Management Academy, the first program dedicated to the developing and growth of the management and leadership skills for school and kindergarten directors or Edu Networks, a 4-year program in which a community of specialists in education, business and 114 schools work together to make over 64.000 children come to school happy.

The Edu Networks alliance is founded and financed by 9 organizations relevant in the education field: Ovid.Ro, Fundația Noi Orizonturi, Finnish Teacher Training Center, Asociaţia „Lectura şi Scrierea pentru Dezvoltarea Gândirii Critice”, RBL, Teach for Romania, Școala de Valori și InfinitEdu.

„Only by working together, NGOs can exchange value and contribute to the development of coherent, consistent and meaningful programs that promote positive relations in school and repositions the importance of placing the student and its needs at the core of all educational initiatives.” Silvia Bogdan, President Școala de Valori

The projects of the Asociația pentru Valori în Educație are already supported by companies and business leaders who believe in the importance of education for the future of the country.

Leaders from 3 major companies that already support Edu Networks have invested EUR 1.2 million until now in scaling successful programs through this alliance of NGOs. Cristina Hanganu from Lidl invited other companies to join this nation goal, contributing in a focused way to an education that offers all children the chance to fulfill their potential.

„The modernization of education cannot be the responsibility of a single organization, of the government and cannot be achieved through the financial contribution of a single company. There is a need for collective intelligence and collaboration of all”, says Andreea Nistor, Executive Director of the Asociația pentru Valori în Educație.

Companies are invited to join and have several methods available through which they can do so: as a mentor or coach, offering professional services in kind or consulting, by supporting a scholarship for a director, by financially supporting a cluster of schools, or by redirecting 20% of the profit tax or making IT donations for schools.

The purpose of this event and of the mobilization launched by the Asociația pentru Valori în Educație is to build a network of companies that support the modernization of education in Romania. Business leaders can get involved on their own behalf or through the company, and the resources needed for NGOs are not just financial. This remains an open network. To find out more about the approach, companies can enter www.ave-romania.ro or www.edunetworks.ro.
