Museums across Romania are preparing for the European Night of the Museums taking place on May 21. In Bucharest 27 museums and several other “friends” are organizing special events and will keep their doors open until later hours, some of them up to 4 o’clock in the morning.
New cultural organizations, art galleries, non-formal and creative spaces and events such as Romanian Design Week, NOD Makerspace, World Press Photo Romania are joining the move this year. There will also be special museum circuits organized in all four candidate cities for the title of European Cultural Capital 2021: Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca and Baia Mare.
The organizer has made available a special audio tour for the event, available within the izi.TRAVEL mobile app, downloadable for free.
The event is part of the larger European Night of the Museums, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, currently under the patronage of the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the International Council of Museums. This edition is the twelfth and reunites 3,000 museums across 30 countries.
In Romania it is organized by the National Network of Museums in Romania, a member of the Network of European Museums.
